DSCC achieve the REVENUE COLLECTION Target in the last decade

The revenue department of Dhaka South City Corporation has exceeded their target in terms of revenue collection for the current financial year. In this way, for the first time in the history of Dhaka South City Corporation, it has been able to achieve self-reliance. The City Corporation is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives of the Government of Bangladesh. Earlier, the city corporation was never able to achieve self-reliance. Prior to the City Corporation, most of their income was based on grants from the local government department of the government and special grants for other development assistance.

Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, the present Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation, has taken over the reins of the Corporation. He organized the various sectors of the corporation on his own initiative and created a transparent and beautiful corporation structure by eliminating departmental corruption.

He also expanded the new income sector by being frugal. Eliminates various baseless expenditure sectors of the corporation and alleviates workers’ dissatisfaction. Installed LED street lights to save electricity and reduce costs, installed LED displays for digital advertising. He repaired all the canals in Dhaka with the aim of removing waterlogging in the city.

Mr. Ariful Haque, Deputy Secretary (Chief Revenue Officer, DSCC) is currently the main artisan behind achieving the revenue targets of the Corporation. He thinks that in the future, the corporation will increase its revenue by one thousand crore BDT, and will be established as the first self-governing (autonomous) government in the country. This will improve the country’s GDP and people’s living standards and Dhaka will stand tall in the heart of the world as a modern smart mega city. He believes that the ability of Hon’ble Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh to lead will make the corporation more pioneering. Compared to the last financial year, the revenue has increased by more than 278% in the financial year 2021-22.
